DNA History

DNA is a privately held Michigan corporation located in Saginaw, Michigan. The company was founded in 1968 and incorporated in 1970. Our original products were operating systems (like DOS & Windows) but for the then popular IBM 1130/1800 line of computers. The company received national awards for it's products which included Fortran and RPG compilers, sorts, communications programs, a complete interactive time-sharing OS (CYTOS), and many additional utilities. We continued developing software specifically for these IBM machines and their clones until about 1982 when, as they approached obsolescence, new opportunities had to be found.

About this time the IBM PC was starting to gain popularity so we considered doing the same for the PC as we had for the IBM 1130 but Microsoft and, at the time, Digital Research had an insurmountable head start. We decided to write utilities for the PC, some of them still in use. Concurrently we were asked by a local accounting firm to write a program to prepare tax returns for the newly introduced MI Single Business Tax. We did the first SBT program in 1982. Since then, we have expanded our product line ("Products" on the Menu) and continued to specialize in State of Michigan tax preparation software.

Evaluation copies of our currently available programs are available for downloading from the Demos menu item. For current customers Updates are available from the Support menu item.
